Lake Okanagan, British Columbia

We visited the lake on May 13th, it being the first place where we stopped on the trip. Our stop was near Kelowna on the west side of the lake. We arrived from the north where we crossed the mountains from the east on the TransCanada Highway. We left from Kelowna to the West to Merritt where we Accessed the Coquihalla Highway to the Lower Fraser River Delta (Vancouver)

The name of the lake derives from an Okanagan language word S-Ookanhkchinx meaning "Transport toward the head or top end". The valley has a pleasant climate, fruit orchards dot both sides of the valley on each side of the lake. All around the lake are vacation properties and resorts.

The location where these pictures were taken was not far from where the group met for the healing ceremony on May 8, 2004.
